Title of Project:   Development of Deep Learning-Based Intrusion Detection System for Defending Android-Based HTML5 Web Applications against Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Attacks
CI/PI: Shashank Gupta and Amit Dua
Funding Agency: Data Security Council of India (DSCI), National Centre of Excellence
Project Description: The aim of this project is to develop a system that relies on Convolutional Deep Neural Networks (CNN) for attack detection and Heterogeneous Background-Familiar Sanitization (HBFS) for defending the android-based HTML5 applications against XSS vulnerabilities. Initially, this framework will sense and categorize the particular attack strings and subsequently removed some part of the noisy code and then encode the left over code including the query under examination. The next step in the training and detection phase is to submit the pre-processed code arrangement in the CNN. The main aim is to utilize the customized pre-processing phase for removing the excessive uncertainty in the code and incorporating additional semantic tags, hence enhancing the efficiency in training mode and detection correctness. On the other hand, HBFS would not be only utilized for replacing the untrusted sequential structure of script chunks with the disinfected order of strings but also responsible for detecting various contexts of untrusted variables of scripts, unlike in the conventional sanitization techniques. The final outcome of the proposed deep learning-based intrusion detection system will be available to online users, web application developers and the related cyber security researchers in the form of web browser extension in public domain for detecting and defending the XSS attacks on the android-based HTML5 web platforms.

Title of Project:   Design and Implementation of content based Recommender System for answering web based user queries
CI/PI: Yashvardhan Sharma, Lavika Goel
Funding Agency: DST-SEED
Project Description: This project will enhance the user experience of asking questions and getting precise answers to their questions on World Wide Web. The system developed would enhance the online discussion forums and frequently asked questions for commercial and Government web portals. The project aims to recommend the solutions to questions asked by users through the available knowledge base. Since, the expert cannot participate in all the questions due to large number of participants, the system will also rank the questions based on priority for the expert to intervene. This project covers multi-disciplinary approaches involving contributions from artificial intelligence and data mining. It deals with the collection, analysis, visualization and management of large collections of data from online documents to design a scalable recommender system. This system would manage and utilize the scientific data in social informatics.

Title of Project:   Development of Real-time Multi Objective Route Recommender Systems Using AI
CI/PI: Kamlesh Tiwari, Ashutosh Bhatia
Funding Agency: MapmyIndia
Project Description: Route selection from a given point of origin to a given destination point on a map is one of the important problems that need to be solved for any in-vehicle navigation. This task is challenging when we bring optimality and real-timeliness into consideration. Objective of the project is to build a turn-by-turn real-time route guidance system for Indian scenario. The system need to be fast, dynamic and could provide suggestions to the users depending upon their objective. This is a two-year project funded by MapmyIndia in Jan 2019 casting about 7.4Lac.

Title of Project:   Mobile App for Assisting Indian Farmer in Improving Yield by Automatic Identification of Plant Diseases (Rice & Tomato)
CI/PI: Sundaresan Raman
Funding Agency: DST

Title of Project:   Development of a Cyber Physical System Based Smart Water Grid for Community Usage
PI: Prof KK Gupta, Co PI: Prof. AP Singh; Dr. Kamlesh Tiwari; Dr. Amit Dua
Funding Agency:
Project Description: Safe and abundant water resources are critical to social, economic and environmental sustainability. Although water is a renewable resource, water availability and water quality may not be sufficient for desired water uses. A smart water grid, conceptually, involves elements related to sources of water, water collection systems, water treatment systems and water pumping and distribution systems. Special sensors deployed at selected points of a smart water grid could transmit real-time data about pressures, temperature, flow rates, vibrations, water level fluctuations etc. to a central server for an intelligent control. Here data analysis and machine learning comes into the picture to construct a Cyber Physical Systems. The project is funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India costing about 70Lac.
