About us

Mathematics department offers various Mathematics courses to all the engineering and science streams. Our objective is to make our students more competent, motivated engineers and scientists with a strong mathematical background. The Department of Mathematics has 28 well experienced faculty members: 2 Professor, 6 Associate Professors, and 20 Assistant Professors. All faculty members are doctorates from IITs and reputed Universities of India and have a track record of good research. Programmes Offered

Department offers M.Sc (Mathematics), dual degree in M.Sc Mathematics with Engineering,  both part-time and full-time Ph.D programs. Currently, the department has fifteen research scholars and two project fellows working in various research areas. The department also offers several research problems to the undergraduate students in the form of SOP, DOP and thesis which can be completed in a semester. The department also contributes substantially towards the Work Integrated Learning Programs (WILP) of the Institute, specifically designed for the professionals working in various industries.

Activities

(Conferences/Workshops/Training Programs etc.) 
 
Our faculty members participate in several academic and non-academic activities. They deliver invited lectures, presents research papers at various conferences of national/international repute. Faculty members are also engaged in providing training to other institutes. Every year number of events and programs are being organized by the Mathematics association AXIOM such as Guest lectures, paper presentations along with the various competitions like solving Mathematical puzzles, writing programs and codes etc. during inter-intra institutional technical events in the campus. To update the knowledge in respective area of research, the department has been organizing various national/international workshops and conferences. The following academic activities have been organized by the department:
  • One-week Teacher's Enrichment Workshop on the topic 'Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Applications' have been conducted during Jan 9-14, 2023. This is sponsored by the National Centre for Mathematics (A Joint Venture of TIFR and IIT, Bombay).

News

* Prof. Manish Kumar and Prof. Santanu Koley has received International Travel Support Grant from NBHM and CSIR, Govt. of India, respectively, for attending the conference ICIAM 2023, in Tokyo, Japan. Further, they have also received a waiver of JPY 50,000 towards the registration fee.
 
* Prof. Santanu Koley received the Registration waiver of JPY 50,000 under ICIAM 2023 FS1 Financial Support Program for Registration Fee.
 
* Prof. P. K. Sahoo has received the Transilvania Fellowship for Visiting Professor.
 
* Dr. Sanjay Mandal has been awarded Transilvania Fellowship for Post-Doctoral research.
 
* Dr. Santanu Koley received a Joint project with RMIT University (Ph.D. Program), Australia.

Student's Achievements

* Kshma Trivedi, Vipin V, Santanu Kumar Dash, Kailash Chand Swami, and Amya Ranjan Ray (PhD Student) received the Registration waiver of JPY 20,000 under ICIAM 2023 FS1 Financial Support Program for Registration Fee.
 
* Ms. Sunita Kumawat, Ph.D. student has received DST International Travel Award to attend the conference SIAM CSE-2023 during Feb 26-March 3, 2023 at Amsterdam, Netherlands. She has also won an award of $250 for getting selected at the final round of HACKATHON, a coding competition held two days before the SIAM CSE-2023.
 
* Ms. Sunita Kumawat received the SIAM-Student Travel award of $950 to attend the Conference SIAM CSE-2023 in Amsterdam.
 
* Dhruv Saxena (FD Student) has been awarded MITACS Globalink Research Internship, 2023.
