1.Overview:
We offer M.Sc. (Hons) Economics and Ph.D programmes. We have a team of 14 permanent faculty members, specialising in very diverse areas from economics, finance and management. This unique diversity greatly strengthen our programmes. We combine foundational courses with application-oriented courses which are in tune with recent trends in academia as-well-as industry. 1.1 M.Sc. (Hons.) Economics:
We offer M.Sc. (Hons) Economics programme as an Integrated First Degree Programme. We cover foundation courses like Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Principles of Management, Economic Growth, Mathematical and Statistical Methods. Apart from these, we have courses like Econometrics, Applied Econometrics, Investment Banking and Financial Services, Derivatives and Risk Management, Securities and Portfolio Management, Business Analysis and Valuation which are in tune with the market.
We always strive to keep our programme updated and in tune with time. Recently we have launched a course Financial Risk Analytics and Management in collaboration with Credit Suisse. This will give our students a first-hand experience with the current practices in investment banks. We have also procured a Bloomberg terminal which will help in getting our students trained and earn Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) certification.
We have a unique feature of the Practice School. Here students work with the industry as the part of the programme, under the able guidance of our faculty members and supervision of industry experts. This greatly prepares our students for the next step i.e. working with the industry. This helps significantly in their placements, most of them get converted into job offers…
This programme has a quite good placement record. In industry, our students are working with globally reputed firms like Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, etc. Some of the students have also gone on to pursue higher studies at prestigious institutions like Columbia University, University of Texas, etc. For further details please visit (our placement section).

1.2 Ph.D. Programme:
We offer Ph.D. programme on both full-time and part-time basis. Our department offers a vibrant environment for research in the fields of economics, finance, and management. We have a team 14 permanent faculties, with diverse specializations. Our thrust areas include development economics, emerging market finance, corporate governance, commodity markets, international trade and impact assessment, human resource management and organisational behaviour, auctions and, applied microeconomic theory. For the full-time students, we have Institute Assistantship of ₹28,000 or ₹31,000 per month as per intake qualifications. BITS-Pilani offers Ph.D. programme under three schemes: Full time Ph.D., Part time Ph.D., and Ph.D. Aspirant Scheme.
