Overview
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus serves a unique purpose in an institute dedicated to the study and excellence of science and technology. We believe that engineering and science are by their nature humanistic and socially-derived enterprises. Therefore, a holistic science and technology education must include liberal arts, economics, social and behavioral sciences where students learn to combine the application of scientific principles with a humanist, moral and social understanding of the world. The Department offers following programmes:
At Master's level, the Department offers two distinct programmes in the area of Management: i) Master of Business Administration (MBA); ii) MBA in Business Analytics. Both these programmes are of two-year duration and are designed to meet the needs and requirements of fresh graduates and the working professionals from diverse educational and professional backgrounds. The MBA program gives students exposure to different domains of management such as, marketing, finance, human resource management, information systems and analytics, operations and supply chain management. The MBA in Business Analytics is designed to develop among students the necessary skills and problem-solving aptitude involved in the process of data-driven decision making in the area of business and management. With a robust business analytics curriculum, embedded with a strong and unique industrial component, and through various innovative pedagogies, the Institute aims to deliver these cutting-edge programmes in a dynamic and flexible learning environment.
At Doctoral level, the HSS Department offers a PhD Programme in Management and other areas of Social Science.
Short-term Programmes; The Department also offers short-term Certificate Programmes in the different areas of Management such as: Marketing, Finance, Business Communication, and Analytics.
Further, the Department offers a diverse range of courses at the First Degree, Higher Degree and the Doctoral level. The undergraduate courses seek to engender a practice of critical thinking and questioning, and sensitizes students to the broader social, cultural, economic, ethical issues that surround them. The HSS Department offers excellent opportunities and facilities for the pursuit of research and development. The Department faculty also guides projects, theses and dissertations at the First Degree and Higher Degree levels. We offer training programmes in the areas of Research Techniques and Data Analysis, Finance and Accounting, Presentation Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Leadership Skills, Group Discussion Skills, Business/Managerial Communication, as well as Effectiveness of Teaching.
