HIGHER EDUCATION

Students graduating with a BE Civil Engineering degree from BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad Campus are offered positions for Masters’ Degree and Doctorate studies at reputed national and international institutions such as Princeton University, UC Berkeley, Imperial College London, TU Delft, University of Wisconsin-Madison, UT Austin, Georgia Tech, Politecnico Milano, Portland State University, NC State University, IISc Bangalore, IIT Kharagpur, IIM Kozhikode and others.

Scholarships

A large number of scholarships, fellowships and other financial assistance are available to the students of the Institute. For continuance of scholarships, scholarship holders are required to maintain good scholastic standing and good conduct.

For FD students: Every year about 30% of students admitted to First Degree Programs get semester tuition fee waivers in the range between 15% to 100% in the form of either merit or merit-cum need scholarships.

Internships

Students admitted to the BE Civil Engineering programme at BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad Campus are eligible for various internships such as MITACS, IUSSTF-VITERBI and funded off-campus thesis opportunities.

Civil Engineering Association

Students admitted to the BE Civil Engineering degree from BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad Campus have the opportunity to participate in the Civil Engineering Association (CEA). It is a student body to facilitate faculty-student interaction, student networking, and team building through the organization of several events. Some of the prominent annual events hosted by CEA are the orientation for freshers, faculty-student quiz competitions, faculty-student sports meet.

CEA also organizes several talks by eminent industry and academic experts to motivate the students and answer some of their pertinent queries. CEA also arranges for the students to attend industrial sites for better practical experiences.

Dr. Syed Mazhar, (Ph.D. 2022) received IGS - Dr. M.D. Desai Memorial YGE Biennial Award 2022 for best paper in the category of "Geosynthetics and Natural Fibers" for the paper titled “Effect of Natural Fiber Reinforcement on Strength Response of Alkali Activated Binder Treated Expansive Soil: Experimental Investigation and Reliability Analysis” by Mazhar Syed and Anasua GuhaRay published in Construction and Building Materials, Elsevier, 273 (2021) 121743.

Mr. Syed Mazhar, a research scholar in Geotechnical Engineering specialisation, received International Travel Grant from DST for participating in ASCE GeoCongress 2022, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA (20 March, 2022 to 23 March, 2022).

Mr. Mallikarjun Patil V., a research scholar in Transportation Engineering specialisation, received International Travel Grant from DST for participating in Transportation Research Board 101st Annual Meeting (TRB-2022), USA (09 January, 2022 to 13 January, 2022).

Ms. Swetha Prabhakar (B.E. 2021) was awarded an opportunity to pursue MS in Civil Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, starting in Fall 2021.

Ms. Vaishnavi KN (B.E. 2021) was awarded an opportunity to pursue MS in Civil Engineering at UC Berkeley, starting in Fall 2021.

Mr. Haritya Shah (B.E. 2021) was awarded an opportunity to pursue MS in Civil Engineering at the North Carolina State University, starting in Fall 2021.

Mr. Hemender Singh Chauhan (B.E. 2022) was awarded an opportunity to pursue MS in Civil Engineering at Purdue University, starting in Fall 2022.

Ms. Aparna Joshi (M.E. Transportation 2021) was admitted to the PhD Program in Transportation Engineering at Iowa State University, starting in Fall 2022.

Dr. Agnivesh Pani (Ph.D. 2020) was appointed as an Assistant Professor at IIT BHU, starting in August 2021.

Dr. Athira Gopinath (Ph.D. 2021) was appointed as an Assistant Professor at IIT Kharagpur, starting in May 2022.

Dr. Kruthi Kiran Ramagiri (Ph.D. 2021) was awarded the National Postdoctoral Fellowship to work as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at IIT Hyderabad, starting in February 2022.
