Faculty Achievements

  • Prof. Sandhya Mehrotra of Biol. Science Department, Pilani campus, received Indo-Australia Early S & T Visiting Fellowship for the year 2012-13 for conducting advanced research on the project entitled, “ Exploring the prospects of introducing bicarbonate transporters into C3 crop plants to improve photosynthesis and water use efficiency”. The fellowships are awarded by the Indian National Science Academy and is supported by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and they are awarded to outstanding Indian early career scientists and senior scientists working in research in frontline areas of Science and Technology.
  • Prof. Anil Kumar of Chemistry Department, Pilani campus, received ISCB Young Scientist Award 2013 from Indian Society of Chemists and Biologists, Lucknow and Harrison McCain Foundation Award from Acadia University, Canada for the year 2011-12.
  • The project, “ Design of ultra-low power , low-noise implantable neural recording amplifier for brain machine interface” submitted by Dr Anu Gupta of EEE Department, Pilani campus, along with four students was selected for the second best award (reward money Rs 20000) In Cadence Design Contest, 2012.
  • Dr Sangeeta Sharma of Humanities and Languages Department received Outstanding Editor’s Award, 2012, from Association of Indian Management Scholars, International, USA.
  • Dr B K Rout, Asst Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department, was awarded Indo US Science and Technology Fellowship for the year 2012-13.
  • Dr Rajeev Taliyan and Mr P L Sharma of Pharmacy Department, Pilani campus, won Best poster award for the poster entitled, “ Protective effect of FeTMPyP, a peroxynitrite catalyst, against STZ – induced neuropathic pain behavior in rats” at the ICMR Sponsored Conference : Insight Into the Evaluation of Natural Products with Special Reference to Anti-Obesity Drugs held during September 22-23, 2012 at Etawah, India.
  • Dr R Mahesh, Ms Deepali Gupta, Mr S Bhatt and T Devidoss won Best Poster Award for the poster entitled, “ Antidepressant like activity of Buspirone and role of HPA axis dysregulation in depression” presented at National Conference on Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, held at Indore on April 28-29, 2012.
  • Dr R Mahesh, Mr Dilip Kumar Pandey, Mr Shvetank Bhatt and Mr Baldev Kumar Gautam of Pharmacy Department, Pilani campus, were awarded Professor Duggirala Visweswaram and Prof. Sreemantalu Satyanarayana Award (Pharmacology) for the paper, “Anti-depressent like effect of pimozide in acute and chronic animal models of depression” published in Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and Research , Vol 45, No 1, January – March 2011. The award was given at the Association of Pharmacy Teachers of India Conference, October 2012, held at Manipal.
  • Prof R N Saha, Mr S Kollipara and S Bende of Pharmacy Department, Pilani campus, received Prof. M L Khorana Memorial Prize for best publication award in Pharmaceutical Analysis and Bioanalytical Methods Chemistry for their paper, “ Rapid and sensitive liquid chromatographic method for determination of Paclitaxel from Parenteral Formulation and Nanoparticles” , published in Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vol 72(4), 2010.
  • Dr Halan Prakash, Subramanian Gokulakrishnan and Priyadarshini Parakh of K K Birla Goa campus received Best Poster award in National Conference on Recent Advances in Inorganic Chemistry held in March 2012 for the poster titled, “ Degradation of Malachite green by Potassium persulphate, its enhancement by 1,8-dimethyl – 1,3,6,8,10,13-hexaazacyclotetradecane nickel(II) perchlorate complex and removal of antibacterial activity”.
  • Dr Halan Prakash, Priyadarshini Parakh Subramanian and Gokulakrishnan of K K Birla Goa campus received Best Poster award in Second International Conference on Advanced Oxidation Processes, October 2012 for the poster entitled, “ Visible Light Inactivation of Bacteria by Ruthenium(II) Polypyridyl Complexes and Effective removal of Complexes by environment friendly adsorbents”.
  • Dr Gyan Prakash, Department of Humanities and Management, K K Birla Goa campus was awarded “Excellence in Research Award 2012” by IIT Bombay for his PhD thesis.
  • Dr Vineet Kumar Singh, of Mathematics Department, K K Birla Goa campus, was awarded BOYSCAST Fellowship from DST, India.
  • Prof D M Kulkarni, of Mechanical Engineering, K K Birla Goa campus, received Prof S Venkateswaran Faculty Excellence Award 2012 for excellence in teaching, research and contribution to institution development.
  • Prof Suman Kapur, Professor, Hyderabad campus was awarded Sri B K Birla and Smt Sarala Birla Chair Professorship award (2010-2014).
  • Dr Amit Nag and Dr Subhas Ghosal of Chemistry Department, Hyderabad campus, were selected under the scheme, “ Bilateral Collaborative Exchange Program” by INSA to visit Germany for 3 months in 2013.
  • Dr K.Srinivasa Raju, Professor, Civil Engineering Department , Hyderabad campus was listed among the 150 most cited authors in Civil Engineering by Google Scholar.
  • Dr Syed Ershad of EEE Department, Hyderabad campus won Silver Leaf award for the paper presented at Prime Asia , 5-7 December 2012, Hyderabad.
  • Dr Sajeli Begum of Pharmacy Dept, Hyderabad campus has been admitted as Fellow of Indian Chemical Society, Kolkata, India.
  • Prof R N Saha, Senior Professor of Pharmacy and Deputy Director, was felicitated on 13th November 2011 in the Institute auditorium in recognition of his contribution to teaching and research in Pharmacy and he was re-designated as Shri B K Birla and Smt Sarala Birla Chair Professor. Prof Saha does research in novel drug delivery, pharmaco-kinetics and bio-pharmaceutics, and drug design. He has successfully completed several sponsored R&D projects that have resulted in transfer of technology to pharmaceutical companies and in commercial production and marketing of drugs, MOVON CR and Zerodol CR, by Ipca Labs. He is a recipient of "Best Pharmacy Teacher of India" award from Association of Pharmacy Teachers of India.
  • Prof. Arya Kumar has been awarded Goldman Sach 10000 Women awards certification Honours for participating in the mentor development program in the year 2011 organised by London Business School and National Entrepreneurship Network.
  • Prof.  Navneet Gupta received Bharat Jyoti Award along with Certificate of Excellence from the Indian International Friendship society, in a ceremony held at Constitution Club, New Delhi on 11 November 2011 (National Education Day). This award was given in recognition of meritorious services, outstanding performance and remarkable contribution in the field of education and research. The award along with Certificate of Excellence was presented by Dr. Bhishma Narain Singh, Former Governor of Tamil Nadu & Assam and Dr. J V G Krishnamurthy, Former Election Commissioner of India.
  • Prof. Poonam Goyal  recieved the award of Woman in Data Mining  in 9th Australasian Data Mining Conference (AusDM'11) hosted in University of Ballarat, Ballarat Victoria during 1-2 December 2011.
  • Prof. C B Gupta received the Best Citizens of India Award 2011 by International Publishing House, New Delhi in recognition of his contributions in various fields including education, teaching and  research.
  • Prof. Arya Kumar was honoured with distinguished faculty award in recognition and appreciation of his dedication, interest, enthusiasm and attitude in accomplishing his assigned mission of teaching by BITSAA International in the BITSAA Global Meet on 9 January 2011.
  • Dr. Jitendra Panwar was awarded as INSA Visiting Professor/Fellow under INSA International Bilateral Exchange/ Collaboration Programme 2011-12.
  • Mr Sunil Kumar Dubey won the prize for the Best Poster in 3rd Conference of Indian Pharmaceutical Association held at Indore during 19-20 February 2011.
  • Prof. Pushp Lata has been awarded with Shiksha Ratan Award by India International Friendship Society, New Delhi, for meritorious services and remarkable performance. 27 Academicians across the country were felicitated with this award for their services and out of them nine were women achievers. The ceremony was held at Speaker Hall, Constitution Club on 26 May 2011. The awards were given away by the Honourable Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, General J J Singh and Ex-Governor of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Bhisham Narayan Singh and Retired Director CBI, Mr. Jogindra Singh.
